DBA’s Internet site features new product information, e-mail, plus an FAQ area on lane cleaning, lane conditioning, lane surface and lane machines. Visitors to our web page can ask questions regarding lane maintenance or equipment, and can even request a quote for synthetic lane packages or product information. The DBA site will be updated regularly to insure that the latest information is always available.

New Toll-Free 24 Hour Technical Service & Support Line

Effective immediately, DBA has implemented a new toll-free, 24 Hour Technical Service and Support Line. Customers who call this new toll-free number, 1-888-DBA-4110 (1-888-322-4110), can receive technical support for DBA lane equipment, new DBA Evolution Lane Conditioner, or any other products from the DBA line.

This new service has been put into effect to increase the availability of technical support for our Customers, as well as reinforce the fact that DBA can be called on for assistance with other products such as cleaners and conditioners.

IMPORTANT NOTE: With the addition of this new Toll Free 24 Hour Technical Service & Support Line, the current "DBA Hot Line" (708-817-5146) pager will eventually be phased out.

Enclosed you will find a reprint announcing our new 24 Hour Support number and the DBA Internet site. For over 50 years, DBA has been recognized as THE Leader in service and support for the bowling industry. We are extremely confident that this recently expanded service will be an improvement that you will find most beneficial!

Replacement Wick Material Gets Rejected!

It has come to our attention that replacement wick material for DBA lane equipment is being sold by companies other than DBA. This material is being marketed as having better flow capabilities than material offered by DBA through it’s Distributor network.

Part of the research and development of quality lane equipment is a never-ending attempt to improve it’s performance. DBA and our manufacturing partner, the Kegel Company, are constantly testing new components which may enhance a machine’s operation. Since day one, wick material has been one of our main areas of focus.

The wick material being promoted as "better" or having superior flow capabilities is actually material that was REJECTED in testing by DBA and Kegel. In our extensive testing, the physical makeup of this material has been found to actually restrict wick flow a great deal. Although led to believe otherwise by outside company claims, wick flow is NOT improved with this "super" wick material when compared to OEM spec material.

Because of the problems encountered with this replacement material, DBA and Kegel CANNOT recommend or endorse it’s use as replacement wick material. For best results and to keep your warranty intact, specify original replacement parts for your lane equipment from your authorized DBA Distributor!

Machine Modifications

With all of the new lane conditioners that have appeared on the market, there have also been various machine modifications that have been suggested by outside sources. Although the intent of these modifications is to enhance conditioner performance, many times the result can be far different from what is expected.

For peace of mind, please contact DBA or your Authorized DBA Lane Equipment Distributor before making any machine modifications. No matter what claims are made by others in the industry, no one knows the optimum performance of your lane machine better than DBA!

New Evolution Lane Conditioner

DBA Products Co., Inc. of Lake Bluff, Illinois, has introduced the bowling industry’s first multi-viscosity, "layered" lane conditioner – DBA Evolution. This revolutionary new product produces conditioner patterns that last longer than any other traditional conditioner, even when being used with reactive resin bowling balls.

DBA Evolution is comprised of two main components: a heavy base "gel" and a lightweight top conditioner. During the manufacturing process, these two oils are chemically linked to produce a free-flowing product (approximately 30 to 34 cps) which wicks well in most lane equipment.

Once applied in a thin film to the lane surface, DBA Evolution begins to separate. The heavy base gel bonds to the lane surface and resists migration, while the lightweight top layer acts like traditional conditioners, allowing just the right amount of transitional carrydown to occur. This scenario produces a condition that remains playable for extremely long periods without any major adjustments needed by bowlers.

Other benefits of new DBA Evolution include it’s ability to remain clean while on the lane, and the fact that the heavy base gel actually bridges board gaps in worn wood lanes. Because of pattern longevity experienced with DBA Evolution, most centers can eliminate the need for "fill-in" patterns thereby reducing overall conditioner usage.

To assist with the removal of Evolution Lane Conditioner’s base gel, DBA has also introduced a companion product, DBA Evolution Lane Cleaner. Evolution Lane Cleaner is a water-based product which can be diluted for use in any type of lane cleaning equipment or for hand cleaning.

Customer Service Survey

In order to maintain our reputation for high level Customer and Technical Service, we need to hear your comments! With this newsletter we have enclosed a new Technical Service Survey. Please take a few moments to fill it out and return it to us in the postage paid envelope which has been provided.

In addition to rating our Service, this survey will provide us with information that can be used to update your center’s data base in our computer system. This will help us to serve you better on future service calls.
